Discovery Channel explores the world in a unique way that is fun, highly entertaining and arouses your curiosity. The programming does not dictate answers; it leads viewers on an exploration to their own discovery. What better way for students to learn?

Discovery Channel programming covers genres including nature, history and world culture, science and technology, human adventure plus more.

The goal of Discovery Schools Australia is to provide Australia’s parents and teachers with the highest-quality commercial-free programs and instructional materials available, all free of charge. To utilise Discovery Schools Australia material all you need is access to PAY TV and the Internet.

Discovery Schools Australia’s Assignment Discovery is a weekly series airing each Friday from 7:30am to 8:30am AEST presenting programs written and edited specifically for classroom use. Parents and teachers are encouraged to utilise these programs in an interactive way, not straight through from start to finish. Discovery Channel encourages teachers to record these programs and in order to develop a library of Assignment Discovery programs. The Teachers Guides will continue to be available on the Internet site. Discovery Schools Australia is an interactive approach to education combining programming and education material. Each program televised is supported by a teacher guide, which includes an overview, vocabulary, extensive activities and other resources all available free of charge at www.discoveryschools.com.au

The programs are suitable for students in both primary and secondary school, with a particular focus on upper primary and secondary school curricula. Discovery Channel works closely with the Curriculum Corporation and the Australian Science Teachers Association (ASTA) to develop teacher guides and to ensure that the development of materials best support key learning areas in the Australian science curriculum.
