The new AUSTAR for schools program offers regional schools and communities a way to engage with AUSTAR personalities in local situations.
AUSTAR for schools is all about our dedication to regional Australia. Kids are our future and AUSTAR for schools is our way of giving back to regional Australians and providing a service that children can benefit from.
This month, AUSTAR and Setanta Sports will be bringing world class football training clinics to children in regional Victorian schools. Professional coaches from Football Development Australia and the AC Milan Youth Development Coaching team will be visiting schools in Shepparton, Bendigo and Ballarat and encouraging children to get active and involved in team sports, promoting a healthy active lifestyle, football and teamwork skills.
AUSTAR for schools will present each school visited with a $2000 grant upon completion of the clinic. This grant is to be used by the school for educational/sporting resources for the students.

Omar Melizza played professional football for 10 years in the Italian Serie B and Serie C and spent a number of seasons playing with high profile clubs such as Cesena and Siena. At youth level in Italy he played against current AC Milan stars such as Pirlo, Gattuso and Ambrosini on a regular basis and also played under the guidance of some of Italy’s top professional coaches such as Ballardini, Benedetti, Marchioro and Tardelli during his career.
This experience makes Omar an integral part of the FDA AC Milan coaching team in Australia and he has created a fantastic rapport with young players at the FDA AC Milan Academy in Sydney and at the FDA Milan Junior Camp programs.
